While operating the stereo it makes a popping sound and turns off and back on. When it comes back on there is no sound coming through the speakers but the head unit is still on. Turning the car off and on restores the sound but it just goes back out. I see this is a very common problem and all the dealerships say if to replace the entire head unit.

My chevy camaro has a safety recall on the key fob ignition system. The key was found faulty and would turn off while driving. Chevy's solution was to remove the switchblade key fob and give me an ordinary key.
